Tax Manager

We are hiring a Tax Manager in our office in Morrisville, NC (hybrid role), to join our team and contribute to our ongoing success. You'll report to our 
Controller & VP Accounting & work cross-functionally with a great team of finance and accounting pros. 

Key Responsibilities/What you'll do:
The Tax Manager will lead and manage the day-to-day tax operations of the organization, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations, overseeing the preparation of tax filings and tax planning. This is a hands-on role that involves preparing and reviewing filings as well as working closely with external tax preparers and senior leadership.
  • Oversee and manage the preparation and filing of federal, state, local, and international tax returns for the company. This includes income, sales/use, VAT, property and franchise taxes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of tax filings in compliance with all regulatory requirements.  Also, work with treasury to ensure cash taxes are forecasted and paid timely.
  • Manage and refine tax reporting processes, ensuring accuracy in financial statements related to taxes.  This includes performing monthly reconciliation of tax accounts and working closely with accounting team to resolve variances.
  • Review tax provisions, including deferred tax assets and liabilities.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and government tax authorities during tax audits or reviews.  This would include resolving any tax issues and disputes in collaboration with the tax authorities, legal department, and external advisors.
  • Lead and participate in departmental projects and initiatives.
  • Partner with the accounting department to ensure correct tax treatment of financial transactions and corporate structures.  Own the timely update of the organization’s structure charts.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the evolving tax landscape and identify emerging tax risks or opportunities.
  • Assess and manage risks associated with tax positions taken by the company.  This would include performing research as necessary.
  • Manage and oversee the preparation and update of business licenses.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, or MST (Master of Science in Taxation) preferred.

Experience
  • 10+ years of experience in corporate tax including transaction tax (i.e.. Sales/use, VAT, property and franchise), with at least 3+ years in a managerial or supervisory role within an industry setting.
  • Experience with tax compliance, reporting, and strategic planning in a corporate environment.
  • Prior experience working with multi-state companies.
Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of tax accounting (ASC 740) and tax provisions.
  • SAP Business One experience a plus
  • Manufacturing experience a plus
Soft Skills:
  • Results-oriented with excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex tax matters to senior management.
  • Problem-solving ability and the capacity to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic industry environment.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented culture.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
This role is vital to ensuring that the company operates in a tax-efficient manner while adhering to all regulations, minimizing risk, and supporting the organization's strategic business goals.

Base Pay Range: $110,000-130,000 + bonus incentive  
Location: Hybrid in Morrisville, NC
