Position Summary: 

We are seeking an experienced, customer focused Quality Engineer to work on-site with our Operations and Engineering teams. The Quality Engineer will report to the Engineering Manager and be based in our Scott’s Valley, CA location, where you’ll collaborate in person, 5 days per week.  provides direct support on quality and compliance to internal departments and programs whilst remaining aligned to company-wide strategic business objectives. Responsible for implementing best practices, preventative, and continuous improvement quality management systems that provide customer satisfaction. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Analyze customer returns and drive programs to reduce return rate. 

  • Respond to customer quality requests and escalations. 

  • Interfaces with all appropriate departments and customers as related to quality problem resolution.  

  • Drive programs to reduce scrap and reprint rates. 

  • Develop and support KPI data collection and reporting. 

  • Develop, document, and maintain quality standards. 

  • Assure products are being built to specification. 

  • Sustain audit processes that gives rapid feedback to production teams on quality adherence. 

  • Participate in new product development to assure that processes are capable of producing quality parts. 

  • Execute PFMEA and controls plans. 

  • Prepare training materials related to the quality management system. 

  • Maintain and support a calibration system. 

  • Assure that printing platforms are operating in specification.  

  • Assess process capability and work with operations to ensure processes are capable of meeting critical to quality specifications. 

  • Defining and documenting product and process specifications. 

  • Driving and leading improvement teams to implement changes that accelerate the business and proactively reduce the risk for errors and non-conformances. 

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned. 

Skills, Intellectual Demands and Job Requirements: 

  • Training in root cause analysis and problem solving 

  • Computer skills and data analysis competence 

  • Capable of presenting technical information clearly and concisely 

  • Communication proficiency with all levels of management 

  • Collaboration Skills 

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to “multi-task” while also reassessing priorities on a continual basis 

  • Ability to listen to people, perceive the real problems, and bring issues to a successful conclusion 

  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles 

  • Poka yoke (mistake proofing) design and implementation 

  • Color theory knowledge preferred 

  • Print Industry Experience preferred 

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or related sciences. 

  • 3+ years of experience in a quality or manufacturing function 

  • Proficient in commonly used software programs:  Microsoft Office including Excel (e.g., Pivot Tables and V-lookups), Looker (or equivalent BI tools), etc.

Salary Range- $98,600-$112,000 plus bonus opportunity
