Job Description Overview: Maintenance Technician Level III
Position Mission
The Maintenance Technician Level III has the primary responsibility of performing maintenance and repair tasks on machines and equipment in our Longmont facility. S/he is responsible for ensuring that all preventive and repair tasks are performed per standard operating procedures (when applicable), to ensure repair quality and maximize machine uptime.
Working Environment and Physical Demands
Manufacturing Factory Floor Environment. This position requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, stretching and lifting to perform all required job functions.
FLSA Status
This is a full-time position requiring consistent dependable attendance. This position is non-exempt.
Tasks description – Essential Duties and Responsibilities
PREVENTITIVE MAINTENANCE: 34%
- Perform Preventive Maintenance tasks without assistance utilizing written procedures, equipment documentation or checklists.
- Follow PM checklist and perform listed tasks such as lubricate, clean, replace, adjust, document gauge reading, etc.
- Identify and recommend additionally needed PM tasks to the program based on observations while performing maintenance.
- Ensure all PM tasks are performed safely by following Circle Graphics’ LO/TO Procedure.
MACHINE AND EQUIPMENT ADJUSTMENTS: 33%
- Perform advanced machine adjustments without assistance with or without documentation being provided.
- Adjust machine parameters within documented process range to achieve good product.
- Perform machine setup to allow for different product production.
- Adjust hot air welding nozzles to achieve proper welds.
- Calibrate sensors
- Provide solutions for temporary machine adjustments that will keep the machine safe and producing quality product if repair parts are not available to compensate for wear or other conditions as they may exist.
- Ensure all adjustments are performed safely and follow Circle Graphics’ LO/TO Procedure.
TROUBLESHOOTING AND GENERAL REPAIR: 33%
- Perform advanced equipment repair tasks without assistance with or without documentation being provided.
- Determine best course of action for repairs, and use industry standards and practices for repairs where no work instruction, documentation or procedure exists.
- Install motors, bearing, sensors, belts and other various components.
- Program Servo’s and VFD’s
- Adjust and calibrate sensors and perform other like tasks where adjustment and dial in is required post installation or repair.
- Replace PLC’s, Download Ladder Files and Reload on new device.
- Troubleshoot all machine malfunctions without assistance using skills, experience and any available equipment documentation to identify root cause, and perform repairs once cause is identified.
Additional Task and Responsibilities
- Assist and train lower-level techs.
- Use knowledge and experience to create LO/TO documents for new pieces of equipment.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned.
Skills, Intellectual Demands and Job Requirements
EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING:
- Associate degree in Engineering/related discipline or equivalent experience
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in Industrial Maintenance or related field
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
- Has advanced level understanding of Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulic, and Pneumatic components of systems and understand troubleshooting techniques for each.
- Identify components, understand what they do and safely replace them with new components.
- Understand component relationships and how components and subsystems intertwine and work together.
- Strong mechanical and electrical trouble shooting skills with the ability to read mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic prints including foreign prints
- Identify alternative components to substitute as needed ensuring appropriate machine function and safety.
- Understand and demonstrate safe use of all hand, power tools, and shop tools and equipment required to perform job functions: Wrenches, Screwdrivers, Power Drills, DMM’s, Mills, Drill Presses, Band Saws, Welders, Presses, etc.
- Independently seek out needed information, documents, files, etc. from the internet or any other available source.
- Have at least two of these related skillsets: Welding, Machining, Electronics Troubleshooting and repair to component level, PLC Programming, Fabrication
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs.

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure and calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages, and apply all concepts of basic algebra.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exists.
